about me

Hello and welcome!

My name is Dominick Albano and I help Catholics and their parishes thrive by giving them access to the best practices and best people in ministry.

Remember when Jesus told the parable of the talents?

A master goes on a journey and leaves one of his servants with 5 talents, one with 2, and another with 1.
The servant with 5 goes out and makes another 5.
The servant with 2 makes another 2.
But the servant with 1 talent was afraid, so he buried his talent in a field.
Things don't go so well for that last servant.

My mission is to use the gifts and talents God has given me to help people better use the gifts and talents God has given them. Because right now, I don't think we Catholics do a great job of sharing best practices, going out, and multiplying.

I work on a lot of different projects (writing, speaking, parish consulting, product development, just to name a few) but let me use the example of parish missions to demonstrate my work.

Ever year, thousands of parishes across the country are hosting some form of a parish mission. I've spoken at hundreds of them.
And most parishes experience some version of the same problems:
● The parish mission isn't well attended.
● The people who come don't have a life-changing experience.
● The impact of the mission is nothing more than a flash in the pan.

I'm just not satisfied doing the same things over and over again and seeing the same mediocre results. So I surveyed hundreds of parishes across the country, I consulted with leading parish mission speakers, and I combined that with my 15+ years of experience in Catholic events to create a new approach to parish missions.

The new model gives the parish best practices in marketing and promotions, hospitality, timing and frequency of sessions, theme topics, target audience to focus on, ideal outcomes, and follow up practices. The result is a parish mission that blows past attendance numbers out of the water, leads to a greater number of initial and ongoing encounters with Jesus, and forms parishioners as disciples.

Take that example and apply it to parish renewal, ministry consulting, writing, and you'll see a model for just about everything I do.
Step 1: Find something the Church is already doing
Step 2: Find the people in the Church who are the best at doing it
Step 3: Learn everything I can from those people
Step 4: Share that knowledge with the Church at large

It's pretty simple, and I find it really life-giving.

Another example to demonstrate the model is my podcast, The Best Catholic Podcast.

I go out and find great Catholic leaders, spiritual directors, and champions of prayer. I interview them to hear their story and unpack their spiritual journey. I dig into their spiritual habits, tips for prayer, spiritual reading recommendations, and any other advice. Then I share the interview - for free - with anyone who wants to listen.

That's who I am. That's what I want to do. And I pray that someday when I have to answer to God for how I used my gifts and talents, I'll be able to show him how I did everything I could to double my gifts by helping other people double theirs.

Thanks for visiting my site. I try to make myself super accessible, so shoot me an email at Dominick@dominickalbano.com, reach out to me on Instagram (@thedominickalbano) or find me on Facebook if you want to chat!
God bless!
